Vocabulary Acquisition


How important is vocabulary for you?


Before saying vocabulary is the most important tool to speak a language fluently, we need be aware for the distinction between written and oral form.
In spite of being natural thinking, the fluency of a language depends on the amount of vocabulary known; there is no how to link language knowledge and vocabulary in its totality.


There are many people, who read very well in such a language. They may know a huge amount of words. Although, when they come across with an every day life usage, they get really frustrated for not being able to articulate all the words known and producing an effective speech.

More than knowing a word, it is necessary to know the difference about meaning and grammatical function. Especially in English that owns a huge number of words, which the relationship between pronunciation and orthography is extremely broad.


In conclusion, bare in mind “The right way to learn and keeping new words, is through creative effort toward expressing yourself to your audience”. The real vocabulary development only happens through interaction; it means contact with the language, as much written as spoken. Reading is highly recommended, likewise the use of a monolingual dictionary.
